Smart University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran
Smart University of Medical Sciences (SMUMS) is the first and only specialized university in e-learning and new technologies in the field of Medical Science in Iran. SMUMS was established in 2016 in alliance with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education policies. Since its founding, the university has contributed to the growth of the virtual education approach in the country, by developing software, introducing new teaching strategies, and compiling guidelines and regulations about virtual education.
SMUMS collaborates with several national and international health organizations to create, produce, and deliver virtual and blended programs to audiences around the world. Education is considered a part of the activities of the SMUMS however, its scope of activities is broader than mere education. The creation of the NAVID platform as a national Learning Management System (LMS) is a major accomplishment of the Smart University of Medical Sciences and is being used by almost 70 medical universities nationwide. Another major project that was successfully designed and implemented by SMUMS is the first standard national Massive Online Open Course (MOOCs) platform, ARMAN to provide nationwide equal educational opportunities. This platform has a wide range of interactive courses to choose from.
The Smart University of Medical Sciences has provided a virtual master''s degree in "Medical Education," exclusively for faculty members of medical universities. To date, over 1500 professors have participated in this program. A virtual residency program of “Family Medicine” has been created in the SMUS in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, and Medical Education. And since 2020 the SMUMS has launched a Ph.D. program for “e-learning in Medical Education.
Due to medical advancement and significant modifications to the health care delivery system, education and research are almost impossible without the use of artificial intelligence, the Internet, and computer connections. The introduction of new information technologies into educational, research, healthcare and treatment facilities has altered how learning generally is done and how health treatments are delivered. Users are now exposed to a wide range of fresh information.
Currently, SMUMS oversees all universities and medical institutions in the country as the main trustee for the development of artificial intelligence in the fields of health and medical education as well as virtual education and offers its services to more than 300,000 individuals, including staff, students, professors, and community members.

A summary of his experiences and academic activities are presented below.
He is an Associate Professor in Medical Informatics at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU).
He graduated from the University of Sheffield (UK) and as part of his PhD degree, He was practically involved in the biggest IT project in healthcare system in the world, named at the time as NPfIT, in which he was in direct contact with GPs (at the primary care side) and with hospital specialists in running a nationwide electronic booking and choosing system, and the system has been a major component of the NHS Digital Health initiative.
In 2008, He was granted with an award in England for conducting an eHealth project resulted in implications for improving the electronic referral process between primary and secondary care trusts, giving GPs and specialists as well as patients a better experince of the referral process.
As an experienced researcher in his field, over the Iast 14 years, He has been involved in desiging mHealth apps for self-care and self-management, providing hospital settings with health IT solutions, developing evaluation methods for healthcare information systems in hospitals, providing healthcare centers and hospitals with health data management solutions, developing evaluation tools for healthcare information systems, and He has acted as health IT consultant for authorities inside and outside my university.
Healthcare Information Systems Analysis, Developing CDSS based on Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs-), Developing CPOEs, Electronic Records, Digital Health ( Health Information Systems Strategies, mHealth, Clinical Dashboards, Medical Registries) are part of my research interests.
He has run a variety of funded product-led digital health projects as the principal investigator, along with his referee and advisory roles in related projects.
In addition to being an active editorial board member to 6 peer-reviewed high ranked international (4) and national(2) journals, He has a strong track record of reviewing for international and national journals, including:

Dr. Noudoost received his MD in 2002 from Isfahan University in Iran and then received his PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences in Tehran, Iran. During his PhD, he studied the neural basis of object recognition with Dr. Hossein Esteky. Dr. Noudoost conducted his postdoctoral research on neural mechanisms of top-down control of cognitive functions with Dr. Tirin Moore at Stanford University. In 2013, he joined the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience at Montana State University as an Assistant Professor. He joined the Moran Eye Center as an Associate Professor starting August 2017. Dr. Noudoost's research aims at understanding the neural mechanisms and neuropharmacological basis of visual attention.
